Each marker sits at a District Council district's approximate centre, sized and labelled by how many indexed companies are registered there — we don't geocode individual company addresses, so pins are per-district, not per-address.

What does it mean when multiple companies share the same registered address?

It means each of those companies has listed that exact address as its registered office with the Companies Registry — the official address for statutory correspondence. It does not mean they operate out of the same physical desk or are related businesses.

Is it legal for companies to share a registered address?

Yes. Hong Kong law requires every company to maintain a registered office address, but there's no requirement that the company physically occupy that space. Using a shared serviced office or a company secretarial provider's address is standard, lawful practice.

Does a shared address mean a company is a shell company or a scam?

No — not by itself. The overwhelming majority of shared addresses belong to legitimate serviced-office buildings or licensed company secretarial firms serving many genuine clients. A shared address is a data fact, not evidence of wrongdoing.

How can I tell if an address is a licensed company-secretarial provider?

We cross-reference every registered address against the Companies Registry's public register of licensed Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSP). When a match is found, it's shown directly on the address page and on each company's page — that's an independently verifiable fact, not our own guess.

Why does this site show how many companies share an address?

Transparency. It's a real, computable fact from the open registry data we index, and it can be genuinely useful — for example, to find other companies using the same company secretarial provider. We deliberately don't turn it into a risk score or quality judgment.
